Mission:
To encourage all peoples with the good news of Jesus and to promote the celebration of the 2000th anniversary of his public ministry, death, and resurrection. This website is a hub for information about these bimillennial celebrations to catalyze world-wide planning and participation in these events. |
Context:
And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28: 18-20 ESV Scholars are converging on the year 2033 as the 2000th anniversary of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth and the establishment of the first Christian community in Jerusalem. This community became known in Greek as the “ἐκκλεσία – ecclesia” – the called-out ones, the assembly or church. This “ecclesia” celebrates its formal birth at Pentecost – the 50th day from the resurrection of Christ. This community spread Christ’s redemptive message of love, grace, peace and a new life throughout Judea and Samaria and eventually touched every part of the world. Jesus Christ has been the most influential figure in world history -- impacting culture, politics, religion, art, music, literature, education, economics, and science. |
Jesus Celebration 2033. This partnering Organization has been established to call Christians all over the world to a special celebration of the resurrection of Jesus on Easter of 2033 AD.
2033 Bible The purpose of the 2033 Bible initiative is to make the reading of the Bible integral to preparing the world for the 2000th anniversary of the resurrection Jesus Christ in 2033. The bimillennial commemoration provides a unique opportunity to witness to the life-changing power of Jesus Christ and exhibit the “oneness” he asked of his followers in John 17. Our charge is to make disciples in all nations and to show compassion to others in His name. The Bible is our light, illuminating our paths as we walk as His followers. 2033 Bible is a non-denominational collaboration supporting initiatives that will change lives by bringing together believers across traditions to reflect upon the teachings of the Bible.

"Decade of Remembrance" The years 2028 thru 2038 AD will mark the 2000th anniversary of many of the significant events recorded in the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles, from the ministry of John the Baptist to the conversion of the Apostle Paul. While scholars may debate whether the crucifixion of Christ actually occurred in 30 or 33 A.D., this event and the founding of the church remains a focus for the remembrance of this decade. A probable TIMELINE for the events recorded in the New Testament has been assembled by scholars. During this decade Christian communities all over the world will gather for special commemorations of these events. The planning is starting well in advance for these significant celebrations.
